PVC MEMBRANE ROOFS
PVC membrane Protan has been manufactured in Norway since 1972. Norwegian specialists developed and adapted the PVC membrane Protan to the harsh environment of the Nordic countries. PVC membrane has excellent indicators of durability, fire resistance, frost and ultraviolet rays.
Protan waterproofing pvc membranes are formed by fusing an ultraviolet (UV) stabilized top layer together with a base layer and including a polyester fiber mesh between them, which stabilizes the dimensions of the Protan pvc membrane.
Protan pvc membrane – based roofing has a number of positive properties that make it the choice of customers, designers and roofing companies. Protan pvc membranes have good water vapor permeability, they breathe, allowing the possible moisture of the structure to evaporate under the waterproofing. Protan pvc membrane roof installation is performed without the use of an open flame, which prevents the possibility of fire during the laying of the roof covering. Protan pvc membranes are fused with a heated air flow of approx. At a temperature of 450 ° C. This method makes it possible to successfully install pvc membrane roofs even at relatively low temperatures. Unlike bitumen-based roofing materials, Protan pvc membranes do not melt during combustion and do not leak through rainwater drainage drains. This is not insignificant, as the leakage of burning bitumen is dangerous for the lower floors, where it can create new sources of fire.
Protan pvc membrane material 1.6 mm replaces two layers of bitumen roll material.
The use of PVC membranes offers a wide range of possibilities to create not only flat and flat, but also sloping, vertical, dome, even spherical and more geometrically shaped roofs and terraces.
A characteristic feature of PVC membrane installation technology is the welding of joints with hot air. As a result, the welds are formed as a homogeneous joint, which ensures a completely closed roof surface. Welded joints are as durable as the membrane itself. Welding is possible in wet and cold weather, as the hot air dries and heats both surfaces. Additional welding can be performed at any time during the operation of the membrane.
Protan pvc membrane base materials must not be applied in direct contact with expanded polystyrene, veneer or bituminous base materials. To prevent these mutually “unfriendly” materials, polyester or fiberglass batting (geotextile) is included between them. On the other hand, thermal wool insulation can be applied immediately without the use of fiberglass or batting.
Frost resistance: Balanced PVC compound compound formula and expensive, high-quality plasticizers allow the membrane to retain elasticity up to -30 ° C (according to Russian tests: -52 ° C). These characteristics allow the use of Protan membranes in harsh northern latitudes. The material manufacturer does not set a lower production temperature threshold. Protan pvc membrane materials do not need to be stored in heat before installation at low temperature, the material is applied in the same way as during the warm season.
The minimum service life of the roofing is 30 years.
